Thonglor, Ekkamai and Phrom Phong
Thonglor, Ekkamai and Phrom Phong with kids. Parks, cafes and the practical bits.
The easiest free place to let kids run around in Phrom Phong, Thonglor and Ekkamai is Benjasiri Park, right next to BTS Phrom Phong. It’s free, it’s open daily from early morning until 10pm, and it has a big children’s playground. Benjakitti Forest Park is a short ride away for longer walks. These three BTS stops sit on one stretch of Sukhumvit, and a lot of families with young kids live around them. This guide covers the parks, cafes and practical details. Indoor play has its own post.
Parks and playgrounds
- Benjasiri Park, Phrom Phong. A compact park around a lake, beside BTS Phrom Phong and next door to Emporium. Its children’s playground has a lot of play equipment and gets busy on holidays. Entry is free, and it’s open daily from early morning until 10pm. Early mornings and late afternoons are cooler and quieter.
- Benjakitti Forest Park, Asok side. Much bigger, with boardwalks, an elevated skywalk, and separate running and cycling paths. It’s free, and a short taxi or BTS ride from Phrom Phong.
Smaller pocket parks and condo playgrounds fill the gaps. Our playdates guide has more on where families meet up across the city.
Kid-friendly cafes
Cafes in this area open and close often, so this list is short. Checked in October 2026.
- Babyccino, Ekkamai Soi 12. A garden setting with a koi pond. Listed as open daily from 8am to 6:30pm.
Rainy days
Indoor play is covered in our post on indoor playgrounds in Bangkok. Two of the venues in it are close by: Playville on Sukhumvit 49, a short walk from BTS Thong Lo, and Sparkles & Sprinkles Kids’ Cafe at Park Ploenchit. Both are Village partners, and members get a discount (Playville offer, Sparkles & Sprinkles offer).
Classes nearby
There are plenty of classes within a few BTS stops: The Little Gym on Sukhumvit Soi 55 and at EmQuartier, Gymboree Play & Music on Sukhumvit Soi 49/9, the Bangkok Dolphins infant swim center on Sukhumvit Soi 39, and a Kindermusik studio on Sukhumvit Soi 31. Our guide to baby and toddler classes in Bangkok has the ages for each.
Getting around with a stroller
- BTS. Phrom Phong, Thong Lo and Ekkamai are consecutive stations on the Sukhumvit line. Not every exit has a lift, so check the station before you set off.
- Malls. Emporium and EmQuartier connect to BTS Phrom Phong by a covered walkway, which helps on hot or wet days. Malls are usually the most reliable places to find a baby-changing room.
- Footpaths. The sois off Sukhumvit can be narrow and uneven. A light, foldable stroller or a carrier makes short trips easier.
The nearest emergency room
Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, at 133 Sukhumvit Soi 49, lists a 24-hour emergency center on its website (Building 3, first floor), and that page lists 24-hour pediatric emergency care among its services.
